 We’re teaming up with Whole Foods West Vancouver and Edgemont Village Pathfinders group for the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up.  Our clean team is planning to tidy up the Capilano River (Lower) from Marine Drive to river North and we’d love your help!  This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbours, get your family and friends involved, and help clean up our wonderful planet!  You can drop by at any time and help out.  With 53,664 registrants already signed up across Canada and 1451 registered clean up sites designated, the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up is a fantastic way to join forces and make a big difference.

The Trading Post

We’re old!  One hundred and twenty years to be exact and we’re proud of it :-)   The Capilano Suspension Bridge has changed a lot over the past few decades. From its humble beginnings of a bridge made out of hemp ropes and cedar planks, to one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions.  Here’s a look at some photos of the suspension bridge pioneers who first set out to build a bridge and get over it.  Let’s get to the history lesson.

Kia’palano

Part of Capilano’s captivating story involves the tradition of placing totem (story) poles on the grounds at Capilano Suspension Bridge. In the 1930′s Mac MacEachran invited local First Nations to place their story poles in the park, adding a First Nations theme. Those colourful poles are maintained in the exact condition in which they were received and are on display in the Totem Park.

The Province was here to visit Raptor’s Ridge, our birds of prey exhibition which includes an interactive and up close look at some magnificent birds.  You’ll get a first hand look at  a Lanner Falcon, Great Horned Owl, Great Barn Owl, and more. You can view the Raptors Ridge Video here.  Come and visit these amazing birds until September 7th at the Capilano Suspension Bridge!
