Guests can share their experience at the park with the world via our website. Using Twitter, Flickr, Gowalla, and Foursquare, comments and photos will be broadcasted live via our Community Page.

Having worked at the head office at the Capilano Suspension Bridge, it’s an amazing feeling when you step out and see hundreds and thousands of people on a daily basis in awe and wonder of their surroundings.  Everywhere I look, there’s people snapping photos with their cameras and phones, capturing footage, and making their way across the 450 ft shaky bridge. 

we wanted our guests to share their splendor and experience with the rest of the world so we created a geo-tagging widget that does just this.  When a guest at the park sends a tweet, checks in with Foursquare or Gowalla, or uploads their photos on Flickr and geo-tag’s it, it’ll be broadcasted live on our community page.  This way, we’ll always have fresh, dynamic content created by those that make this park so exceptional, our guests!

 Most people don’t know that the Capilano Group of Companies  which owns the Capilano Suspension Bridge, also owns two beautiful luxury lodges in the Canadian Rockies.  This last week I visited Cathedral Mountain Lodge in Field BC and Moraine Lake Lodge in Banff National Park, and entertained the idea of becoming a mountain woman!  I didn’t know what I was in for.  Never had I felt so immersed in the spectacular peaks and valleys of the great Canadian Rockies.  You really have to see it to believe it. 

Moraine Lake Lodge, built by celebrated architect Arthur Erickson, is situated right on the edge of Moraine Lake, one of the most photographed spots in Canada and the photo that embraced the old $20 Canadian bill for many years.  I felt like I had to adjust my eyes every time I stepped out, greeted by the vibrant turquoise water, glacial-fed to reveal it’s lustrous colour. Night time was a whole different story.  The reflection of the moon would ricochet off of the rocky mountains and keep the area bright until 11 pm.  Basically I was in heaven.

 It was nice to be “out of range” since cell phones don’t work in that area and none of the lodge rooms have a TV.  It meant that there was only one thing left to do.  Explore!  There’s complimentary canoeing right on Moraine Lake, guided hikes provided by the lodge, Lake Louise 15 minutes away, horse back riding, the stunningly gushing Twin Falls, and so much more.

 All this activity would make any mountain girl hungry.  At night, I dined like a mountain queen at both the Moraine Lake Lodge and Cathedral Mountain Lodge dining rooms.  With a menu that includes Seared Qualicum Bay Scallops, Oven Roasted Rack of Lamb, Grilled West Coast Salmon, and Venesion Tenderloin, there’s something for everyone.

My next stop of Cathedral Mountain Lodge, situated on the edge of the Kicking Horse River and surrounded by the magestic Cathedral Mountain.  The 29 traditional handcrafted cabins are the very definition of comfort and I’m not just being biased!  Well maybe a little    With  gas or wood-burning stone fireplaces, soaker tubs, private decks, exceptional views, and a charmingly decorated, relaxation quickly creeps up into every inch of you.  The lodge is quiet and secluded, yet just minutes away from attractions such as Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake, Spiral Tunnels, Takakkaw Falls and Natural Bridge.

This secluded escape allowed me to fully metomorphasise from a city girl to the mountain woman I was meant to be… if only for a few days.   The restaurant at Cathedral Mountain Lodge is consistently chosen as one of the best small restaurants in Canada and is reputed to offer fresh local ingredients with innovative presentation. The menu focuses on organic and free-range in-season regional cuisine and the extensive wine cellar features Canada’s finest wines, as well as many excellent selections from both Old and New World vineyards.

I could really get used to this!

The water is so inviting but so cold!

I could get use to this.  And just as I was, it was time to head home.  With a new found love for the outdoors I was ready to roll back to the city.  The Rocky Mountains is a heavenly jewel that every nature lover should discover at one time in their life.  Both lodges are open seasonally from late May to early October and are conveniently located near plenty of activities, great trails, and dining.  Feel free to visit Cathedral Mountain Lodge or Moraine Lake Lodge  for more info.

It’s that time of year again.  The Vancouver International Jazz Festival kicks off on June 25th and we are ready!  This year will prove to have another exciting mix of local and international musicians that will bring the city to it’s feet. 

For five nights in June & July, Capilano Suspension Bridge will groove to the cool sounds of jazz.  As a FREE venue for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Capilano Suspension Bridge is happy to provide a beautiful backdrop for all to enjoy.  If you haven’t made it out to this side of the Westcoast rainforest, or you haven’t visited since you were 10, it’s your chance to come and enjoy it all on us.   only Concerts are from 7pm to 9pm and we’ll be serving up lots of burgers and booze!

We don’t know the circumstances of the incident which is currently being investigated by the RCMP.  What we do know is that the RCMP has stated that it was not a safety issue.  Safety of our guests has always been a top priority for us.

Last night, along with West Coast Sightseeing, Landsea Tours, and Vancouver Trolley, we hosted the annual event for all of the superb hotel concierges in Vancouver.  We transformed Capilano Suspension Bridge & Park and invited everyone to escape to “St Caps” for an evening of delicious rum drinks, a steel drum band, and lots of amazing Caribbean food! 

The night was off to a great start with plenty Rasta hats, dreadlocks, Hawaiian shirts, and Carmen Miranda headpieces.  The tiki bar was serving up drinks and getting everyone on vacation mode.  Landsea tours dished up a limbo contest while Westcoast Sightseeing made you walk the plank at their pirate quarters for prizes while Vancouver Trolley was a shipwreck on the west side.  The Smartpics photo booth was capturing it all and allowing guests to send their photos straight to their email for future laughs. 

Of course every Caribbean party needs one crucial component to make it complete- a Conga line!  You can see even more photos of this event from our Smartpics photo booth here.  Their pretty hilarious so you’ll want to check them out!

We had so much fun and are thankful for our partners as well as everyone who attended and made this event so much fun.  Next year’s theme? You’ll just have to wait and see

Bridge House Restaurant Patio
