Guests are loving experiencing CLIFFWALK and the previously unexplored lush rainforest and water exhibitry, then taking in the gorgeous views of the Capilano River in our Canyon Lookout. We are very excited to welcome back Raptor’s Ridge birds of prey! If you’ve never seen a barn owl or red-tailed hawk up close…. now is the time! From Barn Owls to Lanner Falcons to Red-Tailed Hawks, Raptor’s Ridge is a unique way for guests to engage with wildlife and learn about the roles these majestic birds play in the complex West Coast rainforest ecosystem. The friendly and extremely knowledgeable handlers are available to answer questions and educate guests, enhancing the overall Capilano Suspension Bridge experience!

Raptor’s Ridge will be showcasing these intriguing species every day from June 18 until September 5 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Although we are open all year round, some events and promotions are seasonal. If you’re a BC resident, you’re eligible for an annual membership pass! Find out more here!

Construction Update 1: CLIFFWALK at Capilano Suspension Bridge

By now, you’ve likely heard of our exciting new attraction – CLIFFWALK – opening at Capilano Suspension Bridge later this spring. Well, the countdown is on!

Starting today, and leading up to the grand opening we’ll celebrate the countdown to the launch of CLIFFWALK by sharing a number of key construction milestones, facts and photos with you.

This Week – “Meshy Business”

Speaking of counting numbers, this week, we’re working on the installation of the 1400 feet (427 meters) of the mesh safety netting. The woven mesh guards are constructed from 2mm diameter stainless steel wire, which provides a strong barrier while still allowing our guests a unique bird’s-eye-view of the canyon.

The Making of Cliffwalk: Capilano’s Newest Attraction Part 1

Where it all began! John's vision came to life after spending some time in this part of the park

As we get ready to unveil Capilano’s latest and greatest attraction, The Cliffwalk, we thought it’d be a good idea to give you a bit of a primer

John Stibbard had his eureka moment after rappelling down the east face of Capilano Canyon in 2007. He quickly realized that creating a thrilling walk-way along the cliff-side would open up parts of the park that no one had ever ventured through. John quickly went to work and had the bridge and walkway sections built off-site and assembled on-site using minimally invasive construction equipment. Steel was lowered into place using a crane, some steel section weighed nearly 4500 lbs! There are 16 anchor points that were drilled up to 6m into the rock face and 486m of steel was used.

Marc Luc Lalumiere project managed this extraordinary plan along with a team of other talented engineers, builders, and arborists who all had one goal in mind: To build a one of a kind attraction that is truly an engineering feat. Marc Luc has also been heavily involved in building Treetops Adventure as well as Capilano’s two sister lodges; Cathedral Mountain Lodge and Moraine Lake Lodge.

We are so excited to show you what’s in early June, when Cliffwalk is slated to open. The question is: Are you ready? Stay tuned for Part II and III.

Travelocity Gnome Visits Capilano!

Who doesn’t love a traveling gnome?! We had a vist from the Travelocity gnome yesterday as he ventured his way through our park and even got a sneak peek at the new Cliffwalk attraction! Our staff couldn’t get enough of him and even some of the guests in the park jumped in on the action. Check out some photos below
